Andy Moor - Marker

British-born and Amsterdam-based guitarist Andy Moor, came up in 2007 with this self-recorded and produced work of solo electric guitar. It’s a very introspective album of improvised music, in which each song mainly blossoms out of one specific extended technique, preparation or electro-acoustic glitch. The pieces last rarely more than 4:00”, the music is straight to the point, minimalistic and beautiful in its structures. I saw him performing live around Amsterdam, as a solo act, duo or with bands. His live performances of improvised music are always bold and very intense.

Andy focuses on unusual approaches to the instrument, timbral oddities and guitar ballads.
He is mainly known as a full-time member of the Dutch free jazz/punk band The Ex, for his works as composer for films and for his collaborations with Thurston Moore, Paal Nilssen-Love and Alva Noto a.o.
